Pet grooming

Regular grooming can help keep your pet comfortable, healthy and looking their best. It can also help identify issues before they become more serious.

What is pet grooming?

Regular pet grooming is an important part of keeping your pet healthy, comfortable, and looking their very best. It helps maintain a clean and tangle‑free coat, healthier skin, reduced shedding, and helps identify any early signs of health concerns.

Our pet grooming is carried out with a calm, caring and compassionate approach to help your pet feel at ease while receiving the essential grooming care they need.

What does a pet grooming appointment include?

Pet grooming appointments include essential services such as brushing, coat trimming, nail clipping (insert link to nail clipping service), and general hygiene care.

Every pet is different and unique, which is why specific grooming services available to your pet will depend on their breed, coat type, behaviour and individual needs. Our grooming team takes their time to understand your pet’s needs and will tailor the grooming process to suit your pet. We aim to make grooming a positive part of your pet’s routine whilst supporting their overall health and well-being.

Why is regular pet grooming important?

Regular grooming helps keep your pet’s coat in good condition, reduces matting, and supports healthy skin. Consistent pet grooming also allows for early identification of potential health issues such as skin conditions, parasites (insert link to parasite protection service), lumps, or areas of irritation, so these can be assessed by a vet if needed.

When should my pet start grooming?

Most pets benefit from starting grooming at an early age. This would ideally be once they have settled from their vaccinations (insert links to vaccination service). Early, gentle grooming sessions will help your pet become familiar with the sounds, handling, and routine involved. Ultimately, this will build confidence and reduce grooming-related stress later in life.

How often should my pet be groomed?

The frequency of pet grooming will depend on your pet’s breed, coat type, and lifestyle. Some pets may require more frequent grooming, while others may only need occasional maintenance. Our team can advise on a suitable grooming routine to help keep your pet comfortable and well cared for.

As a general guide:

Dogs
    -  Long‑haired dogs and Double‑coated breeds generally benefit from regular pet grooming every 4–6 weeks. Regular brushing at home in between grooming visits is recommended to prevent matting and tangles.
    -  Short‑haired dogs typically need grooming every 8–12 weeks, though routine brushing will help reduce shedding and help your pet maintain healthy skin.
    -  Curly or non‑shedding breeds require regular grooming every 4–6 weeks. This prevents matting and keeps their coat manageable and healthy.

Cats
    -  Long‑haired cats may need grooming every 4–8 weeks, while short‑haired cats may only need occasional visits to help with nail clipping (insert link to nail clipping service), hygiene care, or de‑shedding.

Rabbits and other small pets
     -  Rabbits and other small pets usually need to be brushed on a weekly basis. More frequent grooming will be required during high‑shedding periods to prevent fur ingestion and matting.
